I can’t recommend smile rooms windsor more. From the beginning of my Invisalign journey to the end every single member of staff I met was so friendly , helpful and went above and beyond to make me comfortable and happy. Dr Radha did my Invisalign and composite bonding and she was absolutely incredible. She was so friendly and put me at ease every step. Any query or question I had she was happy to help me and give me exactly what I wanted out of the treatment. I felt comfortable with her to say what I did and didn’t want and always explained how each step would work. She made the Invisalign process so smooth and easy. At the end of my journey with Invisalign Dr Radha did composite bonding on 4 of my teeth. I wasn’t sure how it would look and just hoped for the best but wow I was in shock. My teeth look absolutely incredible and I have never felt confidence like it. The process of the composite bonding was painless and quick and she did a perfect job. I couldn’t fault a single thing Dr Radha did and I am walking away feeling like I have a new perfect smile. I originally joined because I was looking for a gentle hygienist, and I’ve been so pleased with the service ever since. What are white spots on teeth?
White spots on teeth can look unsightly and greatly affect your confidence to smile.
Patients from Windsor, Slough, Maidenhead and throughout Berkshire are now using a revolutionary white spot dental treatment to remove white spots from teeth.
White spots on teeth are caused by a lack of mineral content in the enamel on your teeth. Some possible reasons for white spots on teeth are:
- Fluorosis – consuming too much fluoride during childhood while adult teeth were forming can cause discolouration of the enamel.
- Trauma or illness during childhood can lead to the development of white spots on adult teeth.
- Mineral loss can be caused by poor oral hygiene. Inadequate brushing leads to plaque buildup, and the acid in plaque can damage the enamel if left for too long. This is why some people develop white spots on their teeth after wearing fixed braces for a long period.
How can you treat white spots on teeth?
They are caused by several factors. Many of our clients believe they have developed white spots due to overbrushing or even through bumping or chipping a tooth. The truth is, there are several reasons why you may develop a white spot or two on your teeth — and some may have been there for your whole life and are only now becoming visible to you. Your white spots can occur because of:
- Fluorosis: This occurs when there is a very high intake of fluoride while adult teeth are developing. This condition is quite rare today, especially in younger people, as fluoride supplements are now more tightly regulated than in the past.
- Decalcification: This causes white spots when minerals are lost from the enamel. It can result from irregular brushing and is also common during fixed brace treatments due to lapses in excellent oral hygiene, as cleaning around brace brackets can be difficult.
- Molar Incisal Hypoplasia (MIH): This is a type of enamel deficiency that usually occurs in children under the age of 10. MIH can make teeth more prone to sensitivity and decay and may also appear as white spots.
- Historic trauma: Trauma experienced in infancy can cause white spots to form on teeth as they develop inside the gums. These white spots can be thought of as a type of bruise affecting the enamel and structure of the teeth.
Are white spots just staining?
Previously, patients with white spots on teeth would attempt to disguise them with veneers or teeth whitening treatment.
Now there is a simple and gentle treatment available that does not require drills or injections that is called Icon Spot Removal.
The process for Icon white spot treatment is as follows:
- First, the tooth is prepared with a special gel and then the tooth is dried
- The Icon resin is applied to your tooth which penetrates deep into the enamel
- A special light is then placed over your teeth which fills in the air pockets leaving you with natural looking teeth and no white spots
